A new restaurant is in the works near a major intersection in Mount Pleasant, and the eighth in the Charleston area Planet Fitness gym arrives at Moncks Corner.

Damon Navarre asks the city to annex 1.51 acres of land on Ira Road between Stay a while Garden Center And Life storage near US Highway 17 at Interstate 526, where the new restoration business is planned.
The property, opposite the walmart-anchor Wando Crossing Mallonce housed Lamb Automotive Service Center.
Navarro bought the property last September for $2.1 million through 1434 Ira Road LLCaccording to Charleston County Land Records.
The planned restaurant is going through a group of Charleston investors called LLC High Water Provisions and will be called Frank and Jack are on Iraaccording Stephanie Samuels, project manager and investor. It is named after two colleagues of the now deceased developers.
Plans submitted to the city show a 4,600 square foot restaurant with a potential wraparound porch. Plans also include a 625 square foot indoor area behind the restaurant and a similarly sized flexible dining space with an outdoor fireplace next to it.
The site would also include a 1,000 square foot backyard, a 400 square foot outdoor children’s play area and 1,875 square feet of outdoor space dedicated to adult games such as shuffleboard and bocce. petanque next to a bar.
The linear development would include 73 parking spaces and an overflow area at the rear for employees and guests to park.
If the annexation is approved, the zoning of the site would fall under the regional commercial classification. Samuels hopes construction could begin in August with an opening next spring, but the timeline depends on how quickly the plans move through the city’s approvals process.

The eighth in the Charleston area Planet Fitness the site is under construction.
The practice firm plans to open a 21,704 square foot location at 110 Bi-Lo Drive at Moncks Corner in a mall anchored by KJ’s IGA supermarket.
The gym goes next door North Point Church in a building that once housed walmart before the big-box retailer moved to the north end of the city several years ago. Its opening is scheduled for September.
A company representative did not immediately respond for further comment.
A food aid program called Feed Berkeley once operated on the site where the fitness center is located. Feed Berkeley moved to 207 Newell St. in Moncks Corner Holiness Pentecostal Church.
Planet Fitness has other locations in the Charleston area in Goose Creek, James Island, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Summerville, and West Ashley.

Two new stores are coming to a developing neighborhood in the Cainhoy neighborhood of Charleston.
Viva Tacos & Tequila plans to open a 4,000 square foot site next to a 2,000 square foot site modern movement yoga studio at 836 Foundation St. in the Point Hope development, according to Bryan Fogle of Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlanticwho took care of the rental for the tenants.
The building is under construction next to a similar 6,000 square foot structure to be built where Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop plans to open in about half of the building. The two sites will share a patio between the structures next to Clements Ferry Road. An opening in the fall is planned for businesses.

A new gourmet cinnamon bakery will debut in South Carolina with a store opening in downtown Charleston on April 7.
Cinnaholic at 415 King St. will host its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring a $2 cinnamon special, DJ, giveaways and samples.
The shop offers over 20 flavors of icing and 20 choices of toppings.
Also part of the Charleston rollout, the downtown location will offer three limited-time offers: Lemon Pie Roll, Coconut Cream Pie Roll, and Lemongrass Coffee Cake.
Franchise Kishan Patel also has a location in Statesboro, Ga.

A new commercial building is in the works for North Charleston.
Battleship construction recently submitted plans to environmental regulators to build on a 4.6-acre plot at 8680 Dorchester Road, just west of a shopping center that includes Great Harvest Bakery and Cafe and other tenants near Club Course Drive.
Tenants have not been announced. The site has 1.88 acres of wetland with an expected disturbance of approximately 1.76 acres, according to site plans.
Gassing
A Charlotte-based convenience store chain recently purchased a 6-acre parcel where a nursery once operated in Moncks Corner.
Circle K Stores Inc. paid $1.05 million for the property on U.S. Highway 52 in Ben Barron Lane last month, according to Berkeley County land records. The previous owner was ZZ Real Estate LLCaffiliate The Intertech group of North Charleston.
The purchased site is at the northern end of the former 686-acre land Carolina Nurseries wholesale factory farm which closed in 2010. Berkeley Electric CooperativeThe headquarters of and other businesses are now located on part of the sprawling expanse. A new subdivision is being developed behind the Circle K lot.

A Michigan-based car wash company recently opened its first of four planned locations in the Charleston area.
Tommy’s Express brings its first Lowcountry location to 3680 Ashley Phosphate Road, next to Republic Services, in North Charleston. Two more are planned for Summerville and another on Tanger Outlet Boulevard in North Charleston.
Tunnel washers are designed with a rounded transparent roof and full-size windows along the length of the tunnel. Carpet washers, vacuum stations and membership programs will also be available.
